Facility Information and Athlete Control Centre
Mohawk Sports Park is a 400 metre eight lane regopol surface. Please note, that for any event utilizing the track surface or runways (Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault, Senior Boys and Girls Javelin) that only 5mm spike length will be permitted. This will be STRICTLY enforced at the Athlete Control Centre.
Midget and Junior Javelin (boys and girls), will be contested on the Aussie Rules fields (west of the main stadium) which will be a
grass runway.
All athletes will be required to enter to the competition area through the Athlete Control Centre, which will be located near the 100 metre start at the north west corner of the stadium.
The following notes regarding the Athlete Control Centre will be in place:
- Spike length for any track or runway events inside the stadium is 5mm;
- No coaches, parents or fans can accompany an athlete into the Athlete Control Centre;
- Once the Athlete has entered the Athlete Control Centre, they may not leave;
- For track events, the athlete must enter the Athlete Control Centre no earlier than 30 minutes prior to and no later than 20 minutes prior to their scheduled race time. Athletes will be walked out to the track 10 to 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of their race;
- For field events, the athlete must enter the Athlete Control Centre no later than 45 minutes prior to the start of their event, except Pole Vault competitors who must check in 75 minutes prior to their event. Athletes will be walked out 30 minutes prior to their event, except Pole Vault competitors who will be walked out 60 minutes prior to their event;
- If an athlete is not present when their section is called, they will not be allowed to compete. From the posted schedule, athletes should be aware of the time that their event is slated to occur. There will be no public address announcements;
- Any taping or medical treatments must occur before the athlete enters the Athlete Control Centre;
- If an athlete requires medical attention, the appropriate attendant/therapist will be called;
- Once inside the Athlete Control Centre, an athlete may speak with their coach over the fences as long as this does not disturb another athlete’s concentration. There is really no need for a Coach to be speaking with their athlete at this time. This covered (tented) area is a quiet zone;
- No i-pods, portable radios, MP3 players, or CD players are allowed in the Athlete Control Centre or in the competition areas (track or Aussie rules field);
- Athletes must wear a top that identifies their school;
- For relays, all runners must wear IDENTICAL school tops or the team will not be permitted to run.
- Athlete Control Procedures as noted above are to ensure an orderly entry to the competition area. The above rules have been designed to keep the athlete in the Athlete Control Centre for as little time as is necessary.
Technical Specifications
For all track and runway events inside the stadium, spike length is 5mm and will be strictly enforced!!!!!
For track events, an athlete who qualifies for a final from a heat and scratches from that final is ineligible to compete for the remainder of that day, including relays!
Starting blocks do not have to be used and the false start rule (first false start charged to the field, subsequent false start disqualifies the offender) is in effect. Please note that the Track Referee may not overrule the Starter.
